Windee "Leigh" Simmons, 58, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 at home.
A native and lifelong resident of Brantley County, Windee was born April 6, 1966 in Brunswick to the late John and Martha Beecher Simmons. She worked several jobs throughout her life mainly as a cashier and a waitress but her heart was always at home with her beloved family. She was of the Baptist faith and was a longtime member of the Waynesville Baptist Church. Windee loved dogs and enjoyed painting and cooking in her spare time.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheyenne Turner of Waynesville; two sisters, Cindy Smith and husband, Tony of Hortense and Rhonda Carlson and husband, Alvin of Hortense; nephew, James Rogers and wife, Shelina of Brunswick; nieces, Courtney Parsons of Waynesville and Chelsea Carter and boyfriend, Eddie of Hortense and great nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Noah, Madison, Lennox, Leah, Briar, Will, Sassy, Zoe Jane and Logan. Numerous extended family members also survive.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Cindy Smith on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
