Wanda Faye Baker

Wanda Faye Baker, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Harborview Health Systems, Jesup under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

A resident of Jesup for twenty-five plus years, Wanda was born on July 26, 1941 in Hyden, Kentucky to the late, Lee and Zilpha Causey Baker.  She spent her early years in Hyden where she worked as a waitress and restaurant manager.  In her spare time, Wanda enjoyed spending time with the ones she loved in conversation more than anything and while playing cards as well although she was known to cheat a little if her opponent wasn’t paying attention.  She also enjoyed watching wrestling on television and snacks any time of the day as her sweet tooth was relentless.  Wanda will be remembered forever by those closest to her for her prayers.  She spoke to God often and the beautiful words she spoke in love over her family will truly never be forgotten.  In addition to her parents, her daughter, Wanda Sue Causey; her sisters, Medla Day, Gladys James, Beulah Baker, Marilyn Faine, Bertha Harris and Sophia Jordan and her brother, James Hampton, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Marie Greenwalt and husband, Bobby of Clermont, Florida, Melessa Hodge and husband, Art of Jesup and Geneva Wilson and Billy Baker both of Kentucky.  Eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren also survive in addition to a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Sunset Oaks Memorials.  The family will receive friends at the graveside for one hour prior to the services.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons, Caden, Austin, Connor, Chase, Tony, Zander, Dallas and J.J.
