Victor Albert Hires, 50,  passed away at home.

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Vic was born on April 27, 1971.  He worked as a motor grader operator with Wayne County for many years before taking a job at Rayonier where he worked  until his health forced retirement.  Vic had a huge heart and he cared deeply for his family.  He was loyal and stayed home to care for his aging parents, especially his beloved mother.  Vic loved animals, especially dogs and he loved the outdoors.  Fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle were two of his favorite things to do.  He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was baptized as a young man.  His grandparents, Cluese and Pansy Hires and Roy and Beulah Holland all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Ashlyn Hires of Odum;  mother and father, Albert and Jean Hires of Jesup; sister, Deidra Hires Picon and husband, Carlos of Charlotte, NC; nephews, Lucas and Christian Picon also of Charlotte and mother to his daughter and longtime family friend, Jennifer Hayes. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members also survive.

A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
