Verma Reddish Bennett

Verma Reddish Bennett, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Verma was born on April 27, 1934 to the late, Wiley Oran Reddish and Viola Ogden Reddish.  In her early years, she worked at the Manhattan Shirt Factory before beginning a nursing career working on the surgical floor at Wayne Memorial Hospital for many years.  She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church and enjoyed camping, reading and working puzzles in her spare time.   In addition to her parents, her husband, Herman Floyd Bennett; daughter, Gloria Crummey; sisters, Venita Wright and Vada Reddish; brother, Cleveland Reddish and granddaughter Rachelda Crummey, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Wylene Beverly and husband, Mitch of Odum;  sister, Vida Lane of Sterling; grandchildren, Jeremy Crummey and wife, Yvette of Jesup, Jay Crummey of Jesup, Whitney Hadlock and husband, Kevin of Jesup, Cheston Beverly and wife, Karen of Odum and Raven Hayes and husband, Zamir of Clovis, New Mexico; great grandchildren, Brandon Mullineaux and wife, Briana, Noah Mullineaux, Madison Riendeau and husband, Dylan, Madilyne Greene, Maislee Greene, Maivree Greene, Kevin Hadlock, Kinslee McGauley, Carlin Ussery, Cotton Beverly and Huckleberry Beverly and great great grandchildren, William and Avery Mullineaux and Daxton and Magnolia Riendeau.  Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.

Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Jesup City Cemetery with Reverend Stanley Todd officiating.

Active pallbearers will be family.
