Thomas Edward Safto, 94, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at home under the care of Bethany Hospice.
A resident of Jesup, Georgia for the past several years, Thomas was born on January 9, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late, Edward and Marie Onyschuk Safto. He spent his early years in Philadelphia and was a graduate of the John Bartram High School. He served his country in the United States Army as World War II was coming to a close for several years in Germany. After returning to the states, he worked for a short time with a local Philadelphia distillery before beginning a career with the Budd Company as a technician in the Metallurgy Lab from which he would retire after more than thirty years of service. After retirement, he moved to The Villages in Florida where he enjoyed golfing and socializing, even joining the local American Legion Post. Thomas was always a resourceful man and was a true “jack of all trades” who could fix just about anything.
In addition to his parents, his former wife, Lorraine Anthony Safto, preceded him in death.
