Sharon Gordon Obituary

Sharon Paul Gordon, 75, died Wednesday, August 13 at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, Georgia after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in 1939 in Wrightsville, Georgia she lived in Wayne County all of her adult life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jesup and the Laverne Bennett Sunday School Class. She volunteered in the church nursery for many years. Mrs. Gordon graduated from Ludowici High School in 1957. She was retired from the City of Jesup, where she was the tax clerk for 28 years. Mrs. Gordon was active in the community, serving in many volunteer roles, including local treasurer for the American Cancer Society and its local Relay for Life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Robert E. (Bobby) Gordon, and a granddaughter Katelyn Anna King.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Sheree G. and Jeff King of Naperville, IL, and Stacey G. and Ricky Aspinwall of Jesup; her son and daughter-in-law Rob and Leslie Gordon of Athens, GA; her mother Norma Lawson of Garden City, GA; her brother and sister-in-law Harold and Sarah Paul of Jesup; her sister and brother-in-law Betty and James Padgett of Garden City, GA; five grandsons, Spencer King and Weston King of Naperville, IL, Adam Aspinwall and his wife Lea, of Thomasville, GA, Andrew Aspinwall of Jesup, and Will Gordon of Athens, GA; and one granddaughter Lily Gordon of Athens, GA.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Saturday, August 16,2014 at Howard-Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 17,2014 at First Baptist Church of Jesup with Dr. Mike VonMoss officiating.

Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Laverne Bennett Sunday School class.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society, 5102 Paulsen St. Building 4, Savannah, GA 31405
