Rosemary Kranz Obituary

Rosemary Wilson Kranz, 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah after a brief illness.

A resident of Richmond Hill, Georgia for the past three years and a prior resident of New Port Richie, Florida for nearly thirty years, Rosemary was born on January 16, 1931 in New York, New York to the late Thomas and Florence Blum Wilson.  She spent her early years in Flushing and Long Beach, New York before taking a job with the U.S. Department of State where she served in Iraq.  She returned from abroad residing with her sister Marilyn and Mother Florence in College Point and Bayside, New York and worked in the bridal gown distribution business.  She met her late husband, John Louis Kranz in New York. They married and resided in Long Beach. Rosemary and John operated a bridal store called Brideland in Manhattan, New York for many years.  Rosemary and John spent many wonderful weekends boating and fishing with friends and family in the waters off Long Beach.  Rosemary was an avid bowler.  Upon retiring to Florida Rosemary became an excellent golfer. She was a devout Catholic who served the church faithfully as a eucharistic minister and catechism teacher in St. Michael’s Catholic Church and later was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in New Port Richie, Florida.  In addition to her parents and her husband, her stepson, John Kranz; stepdaughter, JoAnne Duncan and sister, Marilyn Wilson preceded her in death. 

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Kranz of Screven, Georgia and Brian Crawley and wife, Kathy of Huntington Station, New York, four stepchildren, Jackie Weiss and husband, Eddie, June Kranz and Jimmy Kranz all of New York, Patrick Kranz of Florida and daughter-in-law RoseMarie (John) Kranz. A host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jesup with Deacon Doug Delzeith officiating.  Entombment will follow the services and Rosemary will be reunited with her beloved husband at 10:00 a.m. in the columbarium at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
