Ronald Aaron Daniels, 72, affectionately known by many as “R.D.,” passed away August 26, 2021 at home after a lengthy illness.
Ronald was born on November 14, 1948 in Blackshear to the late A.R. and Mary Groover Daniels. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he was wounded in battle and lost his leg. Not one to sit around feeling sorry for himself, Ronald quickly got back to work as soon as he was able. He worked for Georgia Narrow Fabrics for many years, even relocating to Honduras for a short period of time before taking a position with Healthy Pet from which he retired in 2016. When he wasn’t working, Ronald loved all sorts of outdoor activities including, fishing, skiing and camping. He was quite a dancer and had taught himself to play the guitar. Ronald also enjoyed singing with his family, playing cards and watching Westerns on television. In addition to his parents, his daughter, Michelle Daniels Manning and his siblings, Junior Daniels, Arvie Daniels, Velma Todd, Joseph Daniels and Calvin Daniels, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Sandra Wheelis Daniels of Jesup; son, Steven Daniels and wife, Kimberly of Jesup; grandchildren, Tiffany Woods and husband, Josh, Joey Daniels and wife, Tisha, Tyler Manning and Courtney Daniels all of Jesup and Kyle Smith of Gainesville, GA; sisters, Faye Dennison and husband, David of Screven, Mary Ruth Manuel and husband, Woody of Jesup and Vesta Mae Tapley and husband, John of Jesup and brothers, Danny Daniels of Jesup, Bobby Daniels and wife, Susie of Jesup and Leston Daniels and wife, Dorine of Hazlehurst. A host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.
Interment will follow in Ritch Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors to be rendered by the United States Army.
Pallbearers will be Jody and Johnny Wheelis, Chad Tatum, James Todd, Brian Vickers, Luke and Richie Daniels and Leslie Burch.
