Rodney Travis Poppell

Rodney Travis Poppell, 58, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at home under the care of GHC Hospice.

A resident of Jesup for nearly forty years and former resident of Sumter, South Carolina, Rodney was born on June 2, 1966 in Hinesville to the late, Tom and Marcella Ryals Poppell.  He worked construction and did body work most of his life and was an avid football and baseball fan. In his spare time, Rodney enjoyed building birdhouses and chasing women.  In addition to his parents, his brother, Tommy Poppell and his sister, Sheila Howard, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Salina Mansfield and husband, Paul and Joshua Poppell and wife, Tiffany all of Jesup; one sister, Suzanne Dubose of Sumter, South Carolina and five grandchildren, Keely, Miley and Samantha McKinzie, Joshua Poppell, Jr. and Phoenix  Poppell.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family members also survive.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025 at Poppell Family Cemetery with Reverend Danny Stilwell officiating.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Tom Poppell, Joshua Poppell, Jr., Charlie Howard and Nick Poppell.
