Robert Jesse Cloud,80, affectionately known in his younger years as, “Bob,” and most recently known by his beloved grandchildren as, “Grumpy,” passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Hospice of South Georgia after a short illness.
Robert was born on November 26, 1944 in Bakersfield, California to the late, Henry and W. Alma Bloxham Cloud. He spent his early years in Bakersfield and then proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, stationed in Guam, during the Vietnam Era. After returning home to the states, Robert relocated to Lakeland, Florida where he attended Florida Southern College earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Studies. While living in Lakeland, Robert met and married the love of his life, the late, Ladonna Mae Pritchard Cloud. He worked for over twenty-eight years for the United States Postal Service in Lakeland, Florida until his retirement. Robert was always a kindhearted man who served the Lord for many years as member of the Polk City Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing games on his computer and reading. In addition to his parents and his wife, his brother, Jerry E. Cloud, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Cheyenne Cloud of Jesup; son, Robert Jesse Cloud, Jr. of Starke, Florida; sister, Martha Cloud Duncan of Polk City, Florida; three grandchildren, Kayla Cheyenne Stroble, Christopher Devon Stroble and Caleb Perry Stroble all of Jesup, Georgia and three great grandchildren, Landon, Zayden and Ember. Numerous extended family members also survive including a special nephew, Brian Duncan, who was always a big part of Robert’s life.
A celebration of life will be held at the Strand Bistro and Chophouse, 167 W. Cherry St. Jesup, GA 31545, on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
