Rebecca H. Collins

Rebecca H. Collins, 64, died Friday, May 19, 2023 at Jesup Health and Rehabilitation under the care of GHC Hospice.

A resident of Screven  for the past five years, living with her aunt, Hazel Bullock, Becky was born on June 2, 1958 in Jesup.  She spent her early years in Glennville where she was raised by her late grandmother, Rebecca Murphy.   Becky was a graduate of Glennville High School in the Class of 1977.  She never had children of her own, but Becky lovingly helped raise her step grandchildren and is respectfully called "Nanny." In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening and watching her favorite soap operas on television.  In addition to her grandmother, she was preceded in death by her husband of twenty years, J.T. Collins and her parents, Devon Herrington and Doris Nichols.

Survivors include two brothers, Robert and Len Herrington; two sisters, Susan Bunch and Vicki Vogelsang; aunt and caregiver, Hazel Bullock and a friend of over thirty years who was like a sister, Vickie Sue McGlashan and husband, James. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Rev. Randy Pruitt officiating.   The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the services at the funeral home.

Private interment services will be at Jesup City Cemetery.

The family would like to extend deepest gratitude to the staff of GHC Hospice for the wonderful care given to Becky over the past few years.
