Paul Edward Moelker, 68, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Landmark Hospital in Savannah just a few hours before his beloved wife of fifty years, Debra Diane Moelker, also passed away at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup both from complications associated with COVID-19.
A former resident of Ft. Meyers, Florida and Cape Coral, Florida and a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Paul was born on June 7, 1953 to the late William and Ruth Moelker. He spent his early years in Grand Haven Michigan where he graduated from Grand Haven High School. Paul worked thirty-six years for Gordon Food Service as a truck driver and after logging more than two million miles accident free and working for a short time as a dispatcher, he retired. Paul then devoted himself to his true passion, missions. He worked as a missionary for New Mission Systems International, based in Fort Meyers, Florida and also, because of his love of cycling, became heavily involved in Ends of the Earth Cycling. He truly loved helping others and would do anything for people in need. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed spending time with his family. Whether they were traveling around the country or just sitting on the couch watching television, he truly cherished every minute they spent together. In addition to his parents, his grandson, Anthony Burkes; his brother Jack Moelker and his sister, Jessamine Moelker, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his two daughters, Stacy Cross and husband, Raymond of Jesup and Stephanie VanderMolen and husband, John of Grand Haven, Michigan; one son, David Moelker of Cape Coral, Florida; brothers, Phillip Moelker and wife, Eillen of Allendale, Michigan, Steven Moelker and wife, Judy of Dorr, Michigan and Thomas Moelker and wife, Janice of La Porte, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth McGraw and husband Michael and Chastity McDowell and husband, Shawn all of Jesup, Georgia, Kendra and Kaleigh VanderMolen and John VanderMolen, V all of Grand Haven, Michigan and Xavier Moelker of Jesup; great grandchildren, Jayden, Jaxton, Aria, Addison, Skylah, Shawn, Jr. and Caroline. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Reverend Mickey Tomberlin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Sunset Oaks Memorials with family members serving as pallbearers.
