Paul Theodore Lassin, 53, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
A resident of Jesup, Georgia for the past twelve years and former resident of Waycross, Georgia, Paul was born August 2, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Theodore and Albertha Stusse Lassin. He spent his early years in Bloomingdale, Michigan before serving his country in the United States Army during Desert Storm. Paul worked as a correctional officer at Wayne State Prison and Waycross State Prison before continuing his law enforcement career as a Jesup City Policeman. He was a handyman and a true jack of all trades. Paul could fix most anything or build anything he put his mind to. He was outgoing and funny and he loved helping the homeless and less fortunate veterans in the community. A lifelong Michigan fan, in his spare time, Paul enjoyed going to yard sales and he had volunteered his time as a coach with the Screven Recreation Department for many years.
In addition to his parents, his brothers, Theodore, Robert, Dennis and William Lassin and his sister, Christine Borys, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Amber Leanna Trent and husband, Pete of Reidsville, Georgia, Ryan Lassin of Clarksville, Tennessee and Megan Teston and husband, Scotty of Darien, Georgia; companion, Beverly Stallings Brown of Jesup, Georgia, her daughter, Deanna Marie Powell and husband, Ryan of Jesup, Georgia; two sisters, Ann Zeno and Grace Lassin, both of Paw Paw, Michigan; grandchildren, Autumn Trent, Alexzander Trent, McKinley Teston, Jeffrey Scott Teston, III, Arayna Powell, Rilynn Powell, Hayden Powell, Chelsea Boelles and James Rylee Lassin. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
