Patricia A. Darsey, 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Pat was born on April 8, 1948 to the late James Julian Harris and Effie Sikes Harris. In her younger years, Pat worked in tobacco before starting job nursing at Wayne Memorial Hospital, later working with several local nursing homes. She had also worked as a seamstress in a local sewing factory but more than anything she was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who worked tirelessly to make sure that her family was well taken care of. She was a longtime member of Midway Baptist Church and she enjoyed cooking, yard sales, taking care of her grandbabies and picking on, “Her Boys.”
In addition to her parents, her brothers, Robert Harris, Phillip Wayne Harris and Terry Dale Harris; sisters, Dorothy M. Westberry, Mary Ruth Ivey, Betty Jean Maske, and Leecy Kaye Nails all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of twenty-six years, Bennie Darsey of Jesup; daughter, Kim Dixon and husband, Mike of Jesup; sons, James Gordon Brooker and wife, Glenda of Jesup, Joseph Patrick Thompson and wife, Cindy of Glennville and Clyde Thompson, Jr. and wife, Kimberly of Jesup; brother, William David Harris and wife, Carolyn of Screven. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members also survive.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Reverend Thomas Kelly officiating.
Interment will follow in Midway Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Corey Maney, Clyde Thompson, Ken Dixon, Mike Dixon, Ricky Dixon and Sean Rhymes. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, great grandchildren and employees of Hospice of South Georgia.
