Obituary

Myrtle Lee Melton Pace, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

A native of Black Mountain, North Carolina and former longtime resident of Valdosta, Georgia, Myrtle was born on October 20, 1929 to the late Boyd and Eva Collins Melton.  She was a devoted and loving wife and mother who worked tirelessly to make her house a home.  Myrtle was a perfectionist and took great care to make sure things were done “just right.”  She loved quilting and sewing and had made all of her own clothes for most of her life.  Myrtle was a member of the Park Avenue Methodist Church of Valdosta, the Crescent Garden Club and the Southern Railway Ladies Green Dots.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Alvin L. “Top” Pace; her sisters, Josephine Cornett and Pauline Wilcox and her brothers, Ernest Melton and Roy Melton, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Anthony Pace and wife, Tina and Alvin L. Pace, Jr.; two grandsons, Billy Barber and wife, Farrah and Robbie Barber; great grandchildren, Jacob Barber and Seth Barber all of Jesup.  Three beloved canines, Dolly, Tobie and Rosie and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Reverend Stanley Todd officiating.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Interment will be held privately at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Valdosta, Georgia at a later date.
