Melinda Kay Thornton, 49, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Melinda was born on June 17, 1971 in Jesup to the late Donald and Jimmie Dowling Sellers. She was a truck driver by trade who loved fishing, golfing and spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandson. Melinda was a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was always known for her charm and personality. She truly never met a stranger and her presence was comforting to many who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, her infant brother, Terry Mitchell Sellers, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Samantha Thornton; son Scott H. Thornton and grandson, Matthew Donald Allen all of Jesup; sisters, Karen Petty and husband, Tim of Folkston, Samantha Sellers Sweat of Patterson and Rhonda Denison of Jesup and one brother, Leslie Donald Sellers of Blackshear. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. on January 30, 2021 at Vann’s by the Lake, 1876 Savannah Highway, Jesup, GA 31545 with Reverend Adam Walker officiating.
Interment will be private.
