Mark Thompson Obituary
Mark Thompson, 64, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
Mark was born on January 1, 1954 in Wayne County to the late Pat and Ruby Westberry Thompson. He lived in New Jersey for many years where he worked as Chief Technician at Jersey City Medical Center Renal Unit. Mark moved back to Georgia almost thirty years ago and continued his career with Coastal Dialysis in Savannah. He loved helping people. When his loved ones were ill, Mark would research their illness and try to bring some sort of comfort and healing to their lives. He loved gardening, fishing, crabbing and shrimping in his spare time. In addition to his parents, his brothers and sisters, Ronald Thompson, Bobbie Jean Linto, Anne McReady, Eackman Thompson, Clyde Thompson and Leonard Thompson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his companion of many years, Lorna Reyes of Meridian, Georgia and brothers and sisters, Aletha Todd and Lillian Harris of Jesup, Jerry Thompson of Sumpter, SC and Vonnie Thompson of Jesup. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with Elder Tommy Kelly officiating.
Interment will follow in Thompson Family Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Alvin Dixon, A.J. Dixon, Kenny Brooker, Daniel Collado, Vincent Collado, Barbara Yocum and Gail Dixon.
Honorary pallbearers will be staff of Hospice of South Georgia.
