Marie Elina (Kicklighter) Aspinwall

Marie Kicklighter Aspinwall, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia surrounded by her loving family.

A native and lifelong resident of Screven, Marie was born on March 13, 1945 to the late Loyal and Ruzy Grantham Kicklighter.  She worked several jobs throughout her lifetime including positions at A & D Meats, Rick’s Meats, McKenzie Tank Lines, Wayne Memorial and finally retiring from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. She was strong willed, determined and loved spending time with her family.  In her spare time, Marie enjoyed gardening, fishing and riding her golf cart.  In addition to her parents, her brother, Glenn Kicklighter and sister, Betty Carter, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Ricky Drury, Lynne and Greg Brown and Dianne and Nicky Denison all of Screven; grandchildren, Heath Manning, Heather Rozier, Lanie Wilson and husband, Mark, Ben Tyre and wife, Oscara and Courtney Jones and husband, Gavin and great grandchildren, Jaren Manning, Jaylen Manning, Weston Cole, Clayton Cole, Reign Wilson, Adalyn Tyre, Lakelyn Tyre and Case Jones.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Bro. David Simmons officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Bennett Cemetery in Screven.

Active pallbearers will be Ben Tyre, Heath Manning, John Lewis, Gavin Jones, Mark Wilson and Tracy Tyre.  Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Stevenson and Jimmy Truitt.
