Margie Anglin Smith, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Wayne Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
A resident of Jesup for the past five years, Margie was born on March 5, 1938 in Cullman, Alabama to the late Albert and Caroline Aaron Marion. She lived for many years in Waycross where she owned and operated several businesses including a filling station , convenience store and beauty shop. Later, she moved to Folkston where she ran a very successful restaurant, Tahiti Restaurant, for many years. Margie was a classy lady who loved the beach, gardening, fishing and spending time with the ones she loved, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, two husbands, Ed Anglin and Leon Smith and brothers, Cecil, J.B., Harless and Gary Marion and sisters, Doris Cook, Marynette Bradley and Aline McDonald, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sister, Ruby Elrod of Fairview, Alabama; God daughter and caregiver, Nina Brantley and husband, Perry of Jesup and grandchildren, Jimmie Brantley, Brittany Crawford and husband, Thomas and great grandchildren, Katie, Peyton, Paisleigh, Annaleigh and Eli.
Private services will be held in Woodlawn City Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband.
