Margie Louise (Franklin) Rigdon

Margie Louise Franklin Rigdon, 86, affectionately known by her family as “Midge,” passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Margie was born on December 18, 1934 in Jesup to the late Irvin and Louise Highsmith Franklin.  She spent her early years in Wayne County where she grew up on a farm and learned the value of hard work and family.  Margie lived in Jacksonville, Florida for a short time where she worked at the King Edward Cigar Factory.  After relocating back home to Jesup, she worked for many years at Georgia Narrow Fabrics. She was a longtime member of Unity Church of God and in her spare time, she loved working in the yard tending to her flowers.  Margie had the sweetest spirit and was one of the kindest and most giving people who ever lived. 

In addition to her parents, her husband, Charles Donald Rigdon, and her siblings, Grace Hunter, LaFaye Burkhalter, Eugene Franklin and Billy Franklin, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Dana Rigdon of Screven; daughter, Jan Flowers of Jesup; one sister, JoAnn Bennett of Screven; two brothers, Leland Franklin and Dickey Franklin both of Jesup; four grandchildren, Michelle Flowers and fiancé, Ricardo Fields of Jesup, Fulton Flowers, Jr. “Tinker: of Jesup, Auburn Rigdon of Screven and Krisa Swanson and husband, Steve of Atlanta; great grandchildren, Jordan, Jaylyn, Anthony, Ivory, Cane, Donavin, Kinsley and Baker and two great great grandchildren, Wrenley and Bea.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Screven City Cemetery.
