Marcia (Hoover) Borer

Marcia Lynn Hoover Borer, 64, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

A resident of Georgia since 1991 and a former resident of El Paso and San Antonio, Texas, Marcia was born on March 1, 1957 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Richard and Phyllis Bailey Hoover.  She spent her formative years in San Antonio where she graduated from Douglas McArthur High School.  Marcia was a wife and mother first and foremost although she worked several different jobs outside the home throughout her life including a position as an associate at Walmart , a manager at Goody’s, a real estate agent and lastly, owner of her own scrapbook store in Hinesville called From Scraps to Memories.  In her spare time, she loved shopping and was known to frequent the clearance racks in search of a deal too good to pass up.  Marcia was an expert quilter and was a longtime member of the Wayne County Quilt Guild.  She also enjoyed cooking for her family and taking camping trips in the family recreational vehicle.

In addition to her parents, her brother, Richard Hoover, Jr., preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of thirty-seven years, Gene Borer of Ludowici, Georgia; three children, Tami Rider and husband, Mike of Hinesville, Georgia Jimmy Goll and wife, Julie of Midway, Georgia and Roman Borer of Richmond Hill, Georgia and four stepchildren, Erin Whitesel of Neligh, Nebraska, Ryan Borer of Omaha, Nebraska, Curtis Borer of Neligh, Nebraska and Melanie Borer of Omaha, Nebraska. Eleven grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Private memorial services will be held with interment in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
