Lou Coleman Obituary

Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Sister, Lou Alice Coleman, affectionately known by her family and friends as “MamaLou” joined her Heavenly Father and graduated to her home in Glory on June 11, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

A native of Wayne County and former resident of Brunswick for many years, Lou was born on December 4, 1940 to the late Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Fennel.  She was a homemaker who devoted herself to her family and worked tirelessly to make her house a home.  Lou was always on the go.  When she wasn’t working she enjoyed being outdoors.  Lou loved fishing, gardening, and hunting.  She always liked trips to the river and spending time with her family at the houseboat.  Lou also enjoyed crafting and collecting antiques and was a crack shot with a gun.

In addition to her parents, her brother, Manson Fennel; her sisters, Pearline Barton and Marjorie Koopman and her grandson, Thomas W. Perry, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her three daughters, Linda Marie Grayday and husband, Michael of Odum; Janice Lynette Britt of Odum and Dena Coatney and husband, Darrel of Zeeland, Michigan; four sisters, Gussie Smith of Jesup,  Aletha Kirkland of Gardi, Audrey Mallard and husband, Ricky of Jesup and Martha Roberson and husband, Danny Jesup; brother, Johnny Wesley Fennel, Jr. of Jesup; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup followed by graveside services in George Cemetery with Rev. Vann Dempsey officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Daniel Grayday, Darrel Coatney, Raleigh Strickland Levi Coatney, Clayton Coatney and Troy Van Coatney.
