Linda Lee Barsema Peevey, 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia surrounded by her loving family.
A resident of Waycross, Georgia for the past four years and former resident of Kissimmee, Florida, Kingstree, South Carolina and Waukegan, Illinois, Linda was born on December 16, 1949 to the late Roy and Florence Aykroyd Barsema. She worked as a telephone operator in her younger years before starting her family and later worked as a bookkeeper for several different companies throughout her career. When she wasn’t working, Linda loved gardening and flowers, cruising around town and spending time with her beloved family. She was hardworking and determined, yet sweet and loving. Linda never met a stranger and her home was always welcoming and beautiful. Her adventurous side led her on many excursions from trips in the Recreational Vehicle to scuba and sky diving. In addition to her parents, her two brothers, Charles and William Foulks and her sister, Donna Barsema, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Greg Knop and wife, Lisa of Charleston, South Carolina; longtime companion, Bill Mayotte of Waycross, Georgia; siblings, Roy Barsema and wife, Marjorie of Arizona and Kathy Endres and husband, Richard of Florida; grandchildren, Gregory Knop and Morgan Dean and husband, Guerry all of Charleston, South Carolina and two great grandchildren, Mason and Colton. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Services will be private.
