Larry Timothy Blanton, 54, affectionately known as “Timmy,” by his family and friends, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Timmy was born on February 8, 1969. Throughout his life he was always known to be a talker and was very mechanically inclined. Timmy’s ability to fix just about anything made him great at construction and maintenance work. He worked with Balfour Beatty Construction on Fort Stewart for many years and enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering with things around the house in his spare time. His father, Larry Blanton; his sister, Anna Sha Blanton and his first wife, Regina Thomas Blanton, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughters, Chelsie Larae Blanton (Nanka) of Fayetteville, Georgia and Emma Reese Blanton and Ellie Renea Blanton both of Jesup; mother, Colleen Brannen Ivey of Jesup; sister, Tammy Kay Waters (Dickie) of Odum; grandchildren, Jalean, Calvin and Elijah and former wife and lifelong friend, Sonia Blanton. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Reverend Dickie Waters officiating. The family will receive friends after the services at funeral home.
Interment will be held privately in New Hope Cemetery at a later date.
