Kenneth Wesley Tanner

Kenneth Wesley Tanner, 61, affectionately known as Ken or Kenny, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

A resident of Jesup for the past twenty years, Kenny was born on August 23, 1960 in Bacon County to the late John Wesley Tanner and Annie Taylor Tanner.  After graduation, Kenny served his country in the United States Army before returning home where he worked in construction for most of his life.  When he wasn’t working, Kenny enjoyed working on building projects around the house and sitting on the porch taking it easy.  In addition to his parents, his son, Jonah Tanner and his brothers, John, Larry and Chester Tanner all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-seven years, Kathy Tanner of Jesup; one daughter, Kasey Tanner of Jesup; brother, Tony Tanner and wife, Tisha of Jesup; four sisters, Gail Nipper and husband, Larry Johnson of Blackshear, Mary Wilbur and husband, Francis of Darien, Joanne Wasdin and husband, Eddie of Blackshear and Wandell Chancey and husband, Stanley of Waycross; one grandchild, Natalie Tanner and one sister-in-law, Belinda Tanner of Jesup.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.
