Kathleen Grantham Holland, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Mossy Oak Assisted Living under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Kathleen or Kathy, as she was affectionately known by many, was born on December 3, 1936 to the late Leonard and Claudia Strickland Grantham. The loving mother and grandmother had worked as a store clerk and also a nurse’s aide and was a long time member of the Unity Church of God. In addition to her parents, her son, Carl Hillyard, her sisters, Sandra Durbin and Penny Rodenberry and her brother James Earl Grantham all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Holland and wife, Toni of Jesup; three sisters, Diane Crowe of Jesup, Fran Grantham of Hortense and Annette Dismuke of Waverly; one brother, William Thomas Grantham of Rock Hill, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, June Hillyard of Jesup and three grandchildren, Timothy Hillyard and wife, Magan, Bryan Hillyard and wife, Kelley and Ryleigh Hillyard all of Jesup . Seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Reverends Stanley Todd and Thad Norris officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
