Julian Landon, 85, passed away Sunday, July 31 2022 at Baptist Village in Waycross under the care of ProMedica Hospice.
A resident of Offerman for the past twenty-five years and former resident of McKinnon, Julian was born on April 8, 1937 to the late George Otis and Vera Roberson Landon. He was a mechanic by trade who devoted his life to helping people when they needed it the most. In addition to his mechanic work, Julian did some farming on the side and raised goats for many years. He truly loved Australian Shepherd dogs and his favorite one of all was his loyal companion, Bear. In his spare time, Julian enjoyed fishing and camping, especially on the Little Satilla River. In addition to his parents, two sons, Ricky and Julian Landon, Jr.; three brothers, J.R. “Doc,” James and Ray Landon and two sisters, Janice Manning and Jeanette Peacock, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Matthew Landon and wife, Karo’n of Jacksonville, FL, Belinda Gail Taylor and husband, Scott of Sterling, Edwin Landon of Blackshear and Patti Ann Landon-McMichael of Waverly; siblings, Lawton Landon and wife, Norma Jean of Jacksonville, FL, LaWanda Bradley and husband, Bobby of Eufaula, AL, Shirley Landon of Blackshear, Betty Summers of Alma, Joshua Landon and wife, Joan of Blackshear and Jerry Paul Landon and wife, Barbara of Screven and grandchildren, Christine Bridges, Brad Marat, Shadrick Sailors, Shayne Taylor, Shawn Newsome, Justin Malool, Ashley Pena and Spencer Sellers. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Services will be private.
Julian will be remembered fondly for the big heart that was found under his rough and tough exterior and those left to mourn his passing are assured that his favorite person was waiting for him on the “other side” with arms wide open, his loving mother. He will truly be missed until we meet again.
