Juanita Eason Cox

Juanita Eason Cox, 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Juanita, affectionately known by many as “Aunt Neat” or “NiNi” to her grandchildren,  was born on January 14, 1947 in Screven to the late,  J.B. and Mildred Blocker Eason.  She spent her early years in Screven and graduated from Screven High School before moving to Jacksonville for a short period where she met the love of her life.  The two were married and moved to Brunswick where they have lived the past fifty-eight years.  She worked several different jobs throughout her life including a position as church secretary but her heart was always devoted to her family.  Juanita was a lifelong member of Ritch Baptist Church in Screven and attended the Norwich Street Church of God in Brunswick for many years where she was always actively involved.  She loved kids and spent countless hours volunteering with the church youth groups, helping with summer camp and taking them on trips.  Juanita was also a very talented entertainer who could sing beautifully and was the primary host of the Kids Good News Corner on local television and produced the stage show Summer Country in Brunswick.  In addition to her parents, her brother, Robert Eason,  preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, Melvin Samuel “Sammy” Cox of Brunswick; three children, Michelle Cox Turley and husband, Dave of Savannah, Michael Cox and wife, Kim of Brunswick and Jon Cox and wife, Amy of Flowery Branch, Georgia; two sisters, Helen Evors and husband, Eugene of Screven and Louise Burch of St. Marys; one brother, Darvin Eason of Lenox, Georgia and grandchildren, Justin, Josie and Blake Cox, Adam Benguenna, Samantha and Spencer Turley,  Gracie and Annie Cox and one great grandson, Liam.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Ritch Baptist Church, 737 Ritch Church Road, Screven, Georgia 31560.  The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
