Joyce Strickland Obituary

Eva Joyce Strickland, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Harborview Heath and Rehabilitation after a short illness under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.


A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Joyce was born on August 3, 1946 to the late Archie Lee and Esther Abbott Strickland. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister and was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews.  Joyce was a faithful servant of God and attended regularly at the Crossroads Church of God.  In addition to  her parents, her sisters, Bernice Landon (Bill), Janie “Glenease” Wiggins (Ervin) and brother, James Strickland (Margaret), all preceded her in death.


Survivors include her nephew, E. Stanley Efaw (Nadalie); nieces, Mary Efaw and Lynn Hatten (Ben); great nephew, Jonathan Efaw (Christy) and great niece, Eleni Efaw (Tiffany).  Several great nieces and nephews also survive along with a host of extended family members.


Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.  A service of remembrance will follow at 2:00 p.m.


Private burial will follow in the Jesup City Cemetery.
