Joy Elaine Beasley, 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Candler Hospital after a short illness.
A resident of Wayne County for most of her life, Joy was born on October 20, 1954 in Brunswick to the late James W. “Buddy” Merritt and Iris Evelyn Trull Merritt. She worked as a School Bus Driver for many years and had also worked in the Healthcare Industry. Joy was a longtime faithful member of the Odum Church of God and enjoyed reading, working puzzles and collecting elephants in her spare time. She loved to sing and could pray the most beautiful prayers. Joy treasured the time she spent with her beloved family, especially her granddaughter. In addition to her parents, her husband, Daniel Beasley, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Rachel Holland of Jesup; three sisters, Gwen Hall of Odum, Evie Wilder of Jesup and Reba Barker and husband, Ronnie of Ormond Beach, Florida and her precious granddaughter, Ruby Holland. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Odum Church of God with Pastor Justin Moriarity officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
Private interment services will be in Odum City Cemetery.
