Joshua Freeman

Joshua Freeman, 36, passed away on July 1, 2022 in Jesup.

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Josh was born on October 20, 1985 to the late Curtis Mathis and Rose Freeman.  His light hearted and playful demeanor kept his family and friends entertained and laughing for hours as he loved “goofing around” and having fun.  Josh loved music, especially singing and playing the guitar.  He was also a skilled mechanic who was an excellent basketball player.  In addition to his parents, his brother, Timmy Cox, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Leigha Freeman of Jesup, Taylor Lee Dawson of Ludowici and Macy Linda Barefoot of Hinesville and siblings, Barbara Williams of Jesup, Michelle Freeman of Ludowici, Randall Freeman of Jesup, Michael Wilder of Jesup, Travis Mathis of Metter and Jerry Cox of Jesup.  A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive along with many good friends who have become more like family.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July  10, 2022 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.  A celebration of life will follow immediately in the chapel with Pastor Ray Worley officiating.

Interment will be private.

Josh loved everyone and was loved by everyone who was blessed to know him. He will truly be missed.
