Joseph Davis Obituary

Joseph Benjamin “J.B.”  Davis, Sr., 89, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Satilla Hospice in Waycross after a lengthy illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Pierce County, J.B. was born on March 15, 1933 to the late John Madison and Mabel Moody Davis.  His work ethic was second to none.  J.B.  worked hard his entire life as a farmer and machinist and he instilled the value of hard work in his children and grandchildren.  He was a lifelong member of the Offerman Baptist Church where he served as song leader for nearly ten years.  J.B. was truly blessed with musical talent and could play nearly any stringed instrument.  His favorite was the banjo and he was proud of his collection of musical instruments.  J.B. played with several bands over the years and always enjoyed playing music with his friends on Friday nights when they could get together.  He also enjoyed fishing and trying hard to “out fish” his late wife of over seventy years, Geraldine Perkins Davis.  In addition to his parents, and wife, his son, Jerry Davis; sisters Geraldine Davis, Mary Elizabeth Moody and Dulia Ogle and his son-in-law, John Boyd all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Diane Crawford and husband, Randy of Patterson, Juanita Tyre and husband, Jack of Offerman, Benjy Davis and wife, Roxanne of Patterson and Lyndell Davis and fiancé, Shane VIckery of Offerman; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a large extended family also survive.
