Jon Carlton Phillips, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Altamaha Healthcare Center in Jesup, Georgia under the care of GHC Hospice.
Jon was born on August 7, 1945 in Los Angeles, California to the late Sam and Rosalie Begovac Phillips. He spent his early years in Detroit, Michigan where he graduated from Western High School as an All City Pitcher for the baseball team. Jon also lived several years in Manhattan Beach and San Diego, California before moving to Jesup many years ago. Jon loved life and he lived it to the fullest. Golf was his passion and he was an expert. He shared his knowledge with others while working at Pine Forest Country Club in Jesup. Jon loved cooking, motorcycles and working with his hands. He was artistic in nature and his creativity with wood was impressive. His friends and family cherished the treasures he created for them. Jon had a quick wit and a sense of humor that was second to none.
Survivors include his two children, Poppie Phillips of Atlanta, Georgia and Jason Phillips of Oxnard, California; two siblings, Janice Phillips of Atlanta, Georgia and Jim Phillips of Valencia, California, niece, Heather Phillips-Choi and husband, Isaac; great niece, Isla Rose and longtime special friend, J.C. Smith and wife, Susan of Ludowici, Georgia.
Celebration of Jon's life will be held within the next year in California.
