Jerome Curtis Smitherman

Jerome Curtis Smitherman, 57, affectionately known as “Chicken Bone,” passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Candler Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Jerome, was born on December 22, 1966 in Elmore, Alabama.  He spent his early years there and graduated from Holtville High School in 1985.  Jerome was an auto mechanic by trade.  He became master certified by Ford Motor Company and had worked in numerous dealerships throughout Southeast Georgia and Alabama.  In his spare time, Jerome enjoyed riding motorcycles, shooting guns, hunting, fishing and reading. He enjoyed the time he spent with the ones he loved, joking around, having fun and reminiscing on the good ole days.  His father, Jerry Smitherman, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, Jerry Thomas Smitherman and wife, Amy of Tuscumbia, Alabama; daughter, Patricia Jean Weist and husband, Jake of Colorado Springs, Colorado; mother, Annette Smitherman of Jesup, Georgia; sister, Susan Albert and husband, Jonathan of Jesup, Georgia; four grandchildren, Madison Smitherman of Washington State, Danika Smitherman of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Logan  Curenton and Kristian Whitehurst, both of Prattville, Alabama and his best buddies, Liz Wright, Ramona Martin, Jerry Lee and Ethan Garner.  A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.     

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Prattville Memorial Chapel and Memory Gardens in Prattville Alabama with Reverend Walter Batyski officiating. 

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
