Jean Venerge Germain, age 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Hospice of South Georgia following a prolonged illness.
Mr. Germain was born on June 15, 1956, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to the late Jean Venic Germain and Marie Therese Innocent. After relocating to the United States with his parents, he spent his formative years in Spring Valley, New York, where he graduated from Spring Valley Senior High School. He furthered his education at Rockland Community College before moving to Houston, Texas, where he owned and operated the city's inaugural Yellow Cab Company for over 15 years.
An avid traveler, Mr. Germain frequently visited Jamaica, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. His passion for exploration led him to acquire a semi-truck, which he drove across the United States until health concerns necessitated his retirement. Renowned for his kindness, Mr. Germain possessed a servant's heart and was always ready to assist others, even to the extent of giving away his own possessions. He was an active member of the Nyack Church of God, where he deepened his understanding of the life of Jesus Christ and embraced the significance of loving his neighbor. Mr. Germain embodied the qualities of a true gentleman, cherishing moments spent in laughter with friends and family. Regardless of his circumstances, he consistently responded to inquiries about his well-being with a smile, stating, “I can’t complain, no matter what!”
He is survived by his son, Jimmy Josh Elie Germain; his daughter, Theressa Marie Germain; his sister, Mireille Germain, and her husband, Sony Boucicault, along with their children, Widmarck Jr. and Cherline, and grandchildren, Raymond, Saavior, and Ainsleigh; his brother, Josua Germain; his sisters, Mickaelle Marie Germain and Jacqueline Charles (who is married to Marc Bernadel Charles, and their children, Berline Deborah and Shaiyann); his brother, Parnel Germain (and his wife Sonia and their children, Shakir, Peculiar, and Josiah Germain); and his sister, Myanjhalina Luxana and her son, Noah Luxana. He is also survived by numerous extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at First Timothy Christian Church, located at 198 N. Main St., Spring Valley, NY 10977, with a repast to follow in the church social hall.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support they have received during this challenging time. Mr. Germain's favorite saying was, "I’m blessed. I can’t complain."
