James Neal Thompson, 55, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
A resident of Wayne and Pierce Counties for his entire life, James was born on July 3, 1966 in Jesup. He graduated from Wayne County High School and was a farmer, mechanic and truck driver. James loved hunting, fishing and working on things. He always liked to have a good time and enjoyed joking around and picking on his friends and family. James was a member of the Church of God faith and loved spending time with his friends and family as much as he loved farming. His father, Joseph Thompson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Riley Thompson of Patterson; mother, Mary Jane Heath of Screven; brother, Jody Thompson and wife, Karen of Screven and sisters, Delinda Goober and husband, Kenny of Screven and Shelli Thompson of Hinesville. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the Screven Church of God with Pastor Jerry Herndon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment will be private.
