James Walter Nettles

James Walter Nettles, 75, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 1, 2024 at home.

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, James was born on June 22, 1948 to the late George and Eulalah Thompson Nettles.  He worked for over twenty-five years with Coursen’s Carpet and was known to be one of the best carpet installers around.  In his spare time, James enjoyed watching sports, listening to music and spending time with the ones he loved, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his three children, Tasha R. Nettles, Stacy A. Nettles Blount and Johnathan Nettles Walker; two brothers, Clarence Nettles and wife, Mary Ann Nettles and Monroe Nettles; sisters, Sadie Jackson and husband, Vernon, Martha Yacks and Faye Gases; grandchildren, Katelyn Rayburn, Anthony Nettles and Sara L. Mendoza and one great grandson, Randy A. Mendoza.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Memorial services will be private.
