James David Lewis, 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
A resident of Jesup for nearly forty years, James was born on October 10, 1950 in Brunswick to the late William H. Lewis, Sr. and Thelma Gray Lewis. He worked several odd jobs when he was younger before taking a job at Pizza Hut washing dishes. After many years of hard work and faithful service, he was promoted all the way up to location manager. James also took a job managing Little Caesar’s Pizza for a while before returning back to Pizza Hut, from which he retired several years ago. In his spare time, James enjoyed wood working and building things. He was dependable, trustworthy and always took care of others needs before his own. In addition to his parents, his brother, William H. Lewis, II and his sister, Monica Elaine Zelaya, both preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sister, Mary White of Jesup; two brothers, Larry Lewis of Jacksonville Beach and Fred Lewis of Jesup; niece, Teressa Carreon and two nephews, Eugene “Buddy” Allen and Brian Wilkerson.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
