Obituary
Elizabeth Jane McCain, 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Community Hospice in Vidalia after a lengthy illness.
A resident of Wayne County for the past nine years, Liz was born on August 14, 1951 in Mobile, Alabama to the late, Guy and Mary June Daves Benefield. She spent her early years in Mobile before moving to Macon, Georgia with her family where she graduated from Mount de Sales Academy and later, Macon School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Liz was loving and caring in nature. She worked for the Red Cross for many years until her health forced retirement. Liz loved animals and joked that her children were Equine, Canine and Feline. In her spare time she enjoyed watching television and spending time with her family and her fur babies.
In addition to her parents, her brother, Gary Benefield, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sisters, June “Bookie” Jones and husband, Robert of Odum and Joan Lord and husband, Rick of Fairhope, Alabama; two brothers, Greg Benefield and wife, Elaine of Warner Robbins, Georgia and Guy Benefield, Jr. of Senora, California; sister-in-law who was more like a sister, Anne Benefield of Mobile, Alabama and nephew, Robby Jones and wife, Tammy of Blythe Island, Georgia. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Private funeral services were held in the Warren Family Cemetery in Odum, Georgia.
