Eddy Adel Lane, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.
A resident of Ellijay, Georgia for the past four years and former resident of Wayne County for most of his life, Eddy was born on January 15, 1949 in Brunswick, Georgia. He graduated from Wayne County High School in the class of 1967 where he played baseball on the championship team even serving as team captain. Eddy then served his country in the United States Army before returning home where he began a career with General Electric as an Engineer where he faithfully worked for thirty-six years until his retirement in 2012. In his spare time, Eddy enjoyed golfing and watching sports on television. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Braves fan although he enjoyed watching Alabama play. His mother and stepfather, Vivian and Bart Mixon; his father and stepmother, Eddy Lane Sr. and Rosemary Lane; his brother, Earl Lane and his stepbrother, Jimmy Plunkett, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Linda Eason Lane of Ellijay, Georgia; three daughters, Angel Smith and husband, Eddie of Augusta, Georgia, Amanda Cramer and husband, James of Dawsonville, Georgia and Danielle Bennett and husband, Brian of Jesup; two sons, Ron Lane of Lavonia, Georgia and Brian Lane of Ellijay, Georgia; two brothers, Clinton Lane and wife, Jackie of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Billy Jo Lane and wife, Brenda of Jesup, Georgia; two half-sisters, Lisa Kicklighter and husband, Clay of Jesup, Georgia and Tammy Lane of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two step brothers, Gary Plunkett of Leesburg, Florida and David Plunkett of Jesup, Georgia. Eighteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.
Interment will follow in Odessa Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Dalton Corley, Blake Cramer, Micah Cramer, Payton Lane, Chase Lane Eli Wynn, Gavin Lane and Garrett Lane.
