Eddie V. Edge, 75, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020 at home under the care of his family, friends and the staff of GHC Hospice.
A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Eddie was born on February 28, 1945 to the late Walter Thomas and Eva Pearl Edge. He retired from Hendrix Hauling as a foreman after many years of service and was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and riding his grandbabies on his golf cart. In addition to his parents, his wife, Velma Edge; son, Tony Edge; son-in-law, Carl Hillyard; brothers, Bill Edge, Floyd Edge, Elijah Edge and Elisha Edge; sisters, Gladys Brantley, Hilda Mae Ward and Sue Chavis and brother-in-law, Festus Carter all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughters, June Hillyard and fiancé, Chris Strickland of Jesup and Stacey Britton of Aiken, South Carolina; grandchildren, Bryan Hillyard and wife, Kelley, Timothy Hillyard and wife, Magan, Ryleigh Hillyard, Kristin Grantham and husband, Jerald, Walter Edge and wife, Christina, Anthony Bolin and wife, Heather, Tayler Faulkner and husband, Jeremy, Savannah Faulkner and Eli Britton; sister, Walteen Carter of Odum; brother, Walter Thomas Edge and wife, Mary Ann of Kibbee, Georgia; half-brothers, Johnny Ward, Joel Ward, Harris Ward and half-sister, Jan Frost. Seventeen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, family services and visitation will be held privately at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Reverend Kenny Edge officiating.
Friends and family may pay their respects to Eddie any time between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Bryan Hillyard, Timothy Hillyard, Walter Edge, Kenny Holland, Clayton Grantham and Chris Needham.
