E. Ricky Souza

E. Ricky Souza, 62, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Memorial Health University in Savannah.

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Ricky was born on February 2, 1960 to the late E.A.  and Mary Ruth Buckley Souza.  He was a member of the Wayne County High School Graduating Class of 1978 and worked as a self-employed diesel mechanic for over forty years.  Ricky’s years of experience had paid off and he was one of the best at his trade. In his younger years, Ricky enjoyed fishing and he was a lifelong drag racing enthusiast and member of Little Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of forty-four years, Lisa Priester Souza of Jesup; five children, Reggie, Amanda, Lydia, Ricky and Patrick Souza all of Jesup; two sisters, Julie Carter and Tina Sapp, both of Jesup; ten grandchildren, Harley, Mary, Tucker and Tristan Souza, Madelyn Hewitt, Tony Ramos, Trenton  and Ashton Souza, Emerson McGahee and Kylan Souza and two great grandchildren, Zaedon and Jayden Souza.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Little Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Rooster Manning officiating. 

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason Priester, Grant Lewis, Trenton Smith, Jamie Blanchard, Brian Vickers and Weston Guest.
