Dorothy Longwell Kiel

Dorothy Longwell Kiel, 57, affectionately known as “Dottie,” passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 after an extended illness.

Dottie was born on January 25, 1965 to the late Charles “Chuck” Longwell and Julia Tyre Longwell.  Throughout her life she had lived in Dothan, Alabama, Naples, Florida and most recently in Augusta, Georgia.  Dottie worked in sales for AT&T for nearly twenty years before her retirement two years ago.  She enjoyed watching football and spending time with the ones she loved the most.  In addition to her parents, her sister Susie Mae Cox, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her three sons, Matthew Longwell and wife, Samantha of Augusta, Georgia, Adam Vanvorous of Naples, Florida and James Kiel and wife, Brittnie of Greeneville, Tennessee; two brothers, Charles “Butch” Longwell of Guyton, Oklahoma and Joseph Glynn Longwell of Oregon; five grandsons, two granddaughters, three aunts, Shirley Jones of Jesup, Georgia, Nettie Hathaway of Anderson, South Carolina and Ruth Harrison and husband, Hugh of Hortense, Georgia and one uncle,  Fred Tyre of Waycross, Georgia.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 in Big Creek Cemetery.
