Dorothy Johnson Obituary

Dorothy Mae “Dot” Johnson, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 15, 2019 surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hospice of South Georgia, Inc.

Dot was born on January 18, 1940 in Neeses, South Carolina to the late Robbie Hutto and Gladys Hutto Eason.  She devoted herself to her family and worked tirelessly to make her house a home.  Dot’s feisty and fun personality along with her strong work ethic and organizational skills made her a natural when it came to business management.  She and her late husband, J.L. “Sarge” Johnson, owned and operated Sarge’s Restaurant in Screven for many years.  Dot was a member of the Unity Church of God and enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything.

In addition to her parents and husband, her brother Bobby Hutto, son, Randy Morris and grandson, Austin Johnson, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Cheryl Morey, Robin Moxley and husband, Greg and Lamar Johnson and wife, Tiffany all of Jesup and grandchildren, Randy Morris of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Bandy Strickland and husband, Ron of Blackshear, Jessie Morey of Jesup, Greg Moxley, Jr. of Montgomery Village, Maryland, Breezy Moxley of Jesup, Reyn Johnson of Jesup and Mara Johnson of Jesup. A host of great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Bishop George E. Moxley officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Screven City Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Gary Wayne “Gutt” May, Zac Moxley, Gordy Davis, Chuck Moseley, Bruce Harris, Ron Strickland, Ivey Hutto and Wayne Moxley.
