Debra Ann Pummell

Debra Ann Pummell, 64, affectionately known as Debbie to those who knew and loved her, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Memorial University Medical Center after a long illness.

A resident of Jesup for the past fifty years, Debbie was born on February 18, 1957 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Ira and Grace McIntosh Baker.  She worked for many years at H&R Block where she used her natural ability to solve problems along with all the skills she acquired and her excellent work ethic to advance through the ranks.  Later in life, she worked as a seamstress, making curtains and blankets and making her house a home which included taking care of her beloved grandchildren.  In addition to sewing and crafting, Debbie enjoyed reading and watching British sitcoms. She was a truly selfless person who loved her family and devoted herself to them at all times.    

In addition to her parents, her first husband, Carl Wilkerson; her second husband, Stephen Pummell and her daughter, Carolyn Wilkerson all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters, Amanda Melton and husband, Steven and Summer Pummell all of Jesup; grandchildren, Wynter Patenaude and husband, Joey, Richard Nelson and wife, Morgan, Bridgett Nelson, Austin Nelson, Grace Cravey and Kase Byard all of Jesup; great grandchildren, Jace and Kyrianna Patenaude, Dallas and Anna Sinclair, Emery and Turner Wicks and Koralyn Nelson; siblings, Ira J. Baker, III and wife, Linda , James Wright and wife, Amanda, Michael Baker and wife, Brenda, David Baker and wife, Tammy, Jennifer Allen and husband, Charles and Nicklos Baker all of Jesup and two special sisters-in-law, Margaret Tilson and Judy Devereaux both of Jesup.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Rooster Manning officiating.
