Debra Davis Obituary

Debra Harrell Davis, age 68, entered into the glorious presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 14, 2025, surrounded by the love and prayers of her devoted family.

A proud resident of Harris Neck for the past eight years and formerly of Jesup for over fifty-five years, Debra was born on September 26, 1956, in Jeff Davis County to the late Charlie Harrell and Edna Brown Harrell. A woman of great purpose and unwavering commitment, Debra dedicated more than thirty-eight years of faithful service to the federal government—first at Fort Stewart and later for over two decades at FCI Jesup.

Debra was a founding member of Turning Point Worship Center, where she humbly and diligently served as church secretary for sixteen years. She was not just a colleague but a beloved friend and spiritual sister to many. To all who knew her, she was affectionately known as “The Queen,” “DeDe,” and “Debra D.” Her presence radiated elegance, grace, and quiet strength, qualities she carried with pride and humility throughout her life.

Debra embodied love, kindness, and a gentle, gracious spirit. Her infectious laughter and quick wit brought warmth and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her, leaving a lasting impression on every heart she touched. She embraced life’s quiet pleasures with grace—savoring a morning coffee by the coast, casting a fishing line with ease, painting with gentle creativity, browsing her favorite shops, and thoughtfully piecing together puzzles. She also took great joy in nurturing her yards. Yet above all, Debra was a woman of profound faith and steadfast devotion—anchored first in her relationship with her Savior, and then in her boundless love for Don and for those closest to her heart, especially her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved husband of forty-nine years, Don Davis of Harris Neck; her two sons, J.D. Davis (Kacee) and Jordan Davis (Jessica), both of Jesup; and her four cherished grandchildren, Jace, Kaylee, Kitt, and Tatum Davis. She also leaves behind her devoted sister, Mary Tomberlin (Larry) of Surrency; her brother, David Harrell (Laura) of Dadeville, Alabama; and many extended family members including loving aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Debra’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Turning Point Worship Center, with Pastor Justin Mitchell officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church.

She will be laid to rest at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery following the celebration of life service.

Active pallbearers will be Jace Davis, Samuel Pye, Sawyer Pye, Jeffrey Tomberlin, Bill Harrell, and Adam Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will include Debra’s Springfield Plantation family, the Bike and Book Club, and the Elders, Board of Directors, and past and present staff of Turning Point Worship Center, as well as Kitty Milikin and her dear fishing companions, Billy and Marilyn Cowart.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Debra to Turning Point Christian Academy, 1810 S. Palm St., Jesup, GA 31546.
