Dana Renee Cox

Dana Renee Cox, 55, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah after a lengthy illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Dana was born on June 12, 1968.  She worked several different jobs throughout her lifetime, cooking, waiting tables and cleaning.  Dana’s carefree spirit and selfless nature made her a joy to be around and she treasured the time she spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren.  In her spare time, she loved cooking, yard sales, thrift stores and listening to music.  Her father, Herman Theo Winn, sister, Deborah Winn Smith and grandson, Jayden McCorkel, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her three children, Dustin Cox and wife, Ashley, Kelli McCorkel and husband, James and Harlie Baker and companion, Dustin all of Jesup; mother, Helen Winn of Jesup; grandchildren, Tanner and Remington Cox, Brylee McCorkel, Paisley and Palmer Grayson, Paxton Baker and Dustin Spivey, Jr. sister, Lisa Smith of Screven and brother, Sam Gordon of Screven.  A host of nieces, nephews cousins and extended family members also survive.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Reverend Justin Drawdy officiating.

Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kaden Mallard, Konner Priester, Dalton White, Jason Priester, Trenton Smith and Greg Leggett.
