Christopher James Staines, 32, affectionately known by his family and friends as, “Topher,” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
A resident of Baxley for most of his life, Christopher was born on August 2, 1991 in Hazlehurst. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before returning home, where he worked in the construction of steel buildings. He was a good father, good friend and great all around guy. Christopher also loved being outdoors, riding motorcycles and four wheelers and watching the Georgia Bulldogs on television.
His grandparents, Wilton Spell, Stephanie Jo Staines and Faye Poole all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Samantha Spikes Staines of Reidsville; three children, Drayke James Staines, Carli Jo Staines and Jeweli Marie Kimmons; mother, Dana Nail and husband, Lewis of Baxley; father, Steven Spell and wife, Tamara of Baxley; sister, Krista Sloan Sellers of Baxley; grandmother, Jherri Spell of Baxley and grandfathers, Ronald James Staines of LaGrange, Georgia and Herman Poole of Jesup. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Rev. Darron “Buckwheat” Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
