Bobby Ray Obituary

Bobby Glenn Ray, 76, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Wayne Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Bobby was born on December 6, 1942 in Zebulon, North Carolina to the late Wade and Mildred Carlyle Ray.  He served his country in the United States Army and was a barber by trade.  His adventurous and fearless nature led him on many exciting adventures, one being a construction project where he helped build hotels on Miami Beach for several years.  Bobby worked several odd jobs later in life but devoted most of his time to his true passion, Amateur Radio, also known as ham radio, which he was licensed to operate and was known as Bam Bob.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing,  grilling out and spending time with the ones he loved the most.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Patricia Ray ; his daughter, Cynthia Lynn Ray; two step sons, James and Donald Ewell and his longtime canine companion, Princess, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his two children, Mike Ray and Terri Ray both of Hortense; three sisters, Janet Herman and husband, Al of Cary, North Carolina, Judi Carlyle of Zebulon, North Carolina and Tina Webb and husband, Jack of Cary, North Carolina; step daughters, Rhonda Ewell, Hope Rainey and Patty Privott;  step son, Ronald Ewell; grandchildren, Colton Ray, Michaela Slover, Rayna Ahnberg, Jaici Ahnberg and Kyle Ahnberg and great grandchildren, Hailey Walker and Alexa Grant. A host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
