Bill Robert Stephens

Bill Robert Stephens, 74, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

A resident of Wayne County for most of his life, Bill was born on February 15, 1948 in Jesup, Georgia to the late Peter and Arizona Brinkley Stephens.  After High School, he served his country in the United States Navy for several years before beginning a career as a truck driver where he traveled all over the country even living in Toronto, Canada for almost ten years.  Bill worked for several different trucking companies over the years, including McKenzie Tank Lines, National Carriers and Stephens Trucking.  He was never known to be in a hurry and  in his spare time, Bill enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and collecting.   

In addition to his parents, his siblings, Retta Hambrick, Colvin Stephens, Geneva Lamb, Marie Moxley, Theron Stephens, Wayne Stephens, Albert Stephens, Ola Stallings and Dale Gordon, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of eighteen years, Theona Harris Stephens of Jesup; sons, Robbie Stephens  and wife, Chantel of Ellijay, Georgia and Paul Stephens and wife, Tina of Jesup; sister, Alice Miller and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Brother David Schertell officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
